Green Jacks Turned Apple Jacks for a Day

Flagstaff, AZ (September 21, 2021) — On Saturday, September 21, the NAU Green Jacks, a student-run club that seeks to create a culture of sustainability on campus, partnered with a real estate crowdfunding company Neighborhood Ventures to harvest apples for the Flagstaff Food Bank. However, they weren’t filling boxes at an apple orchard. They were picking apples at the Venture on Elden apartment complex near Downtown Flagstaff, where the trees were bursting with fruit.

Neighborhood Ventures recently purchased the 16-unit Venture on Elden apartment complex at 201 S. Elden, with the involvement of 186 investors, all Arizona residents who invested a minimum of $1K to buy a share in the property, which is currently undergoing renovation.

“Our company was founded on the concept of community, giving Arizona residents of all income levels the opportunity to invest in commercial real estate properties for the first time,” says Neighborhood Ventures Co-founder John Kobierowski. “So when we invested in this Flagstaff apartment building, we knew we wanted to be a part of the community. We want to thank Flagstaff Food Link for letting us use their pickers and the NAU Green Jacks for coming out on a beautiful Saturday to help make sure these apples don’t go to waste!”

Green Jacks president Caroline says she was all in, as soon as she learned about the opportunity. “This is so cool! I was immediately on board when Neighborhood Ventures reached out to us, and our members were equally excited. It’s great to have a community-minded company like this reach out to get us involved and give us an opportunity to give back as well.”
