Arizona Cities Stand Out in National Driving Safety Rankings — What It Means for Growth and Urban Living

The 2025 Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report ranks several Arizona cities among the safest in the country, highlighting continued progress in transportation safety and infrastructure across the Valley.

Scottsdale placed #7 nationally, climbing 32 spots from 2015. Gilbert ranked #21, Chandler #26, Mesa #35, Peoria #50, and Surprise entered the list at #67. Phoenix came in at #115, and Tempe at #119, both down from previous years.

The data reflects not just driving habits but also the impact of urban planning, roadway design, and population growth. Safer streets often correlate with communities that prioritize thoughtful infrastructure—an essential factor for developers, investors, and multifamily residents alike.

For multifamily housing, safety is more than a quality-of-life feature—it directly influences tenant retention, insurance costs, and property values. Cities like Scottsdale and Gilbert, which combine lower collision rates with strong population inflows, continue to attract both residents and capital investment.

As Arizona’s metro areas expand, the focus on mobility and safe transportation systems will remain a critical part of building livable, connected communities—key drivers of long-term real estate stability and growth.
